How to turn on my apire one

I have an aspire one (z5g) and I will be using it for my car install, but what I want to do is turn it on, while it is under my seat plugged into its dock. as i will not be able to open the lid to turn it on while it is under my seat, i need an alternate way to boot it up. If you go to my worklog in my signature line, you will see what I am wanting to do.
Is there any way to do a wake on usb instance to turn it on?
when the laptop is docked under the seat, it will boot up to linux that is installed on an external HDD, so that when i take the laptop back into the house, it will be back to windows, keeping my carpc and home pc separate but running on the same machine.
    Please Help

If you do some searching, you'll see that there are numerous options for getting laptops to power on. Since you have a docking station, your best bet may be to take apart the docking station, wire a push button connected from your dash, to the power button on the docking station. You can check the bios of the laptop and see what kind of "wake" modes it supports, but chances are not many.

RevFE - Super fast, modular frontend. Most powerful skinning engine in existence. Strong enough for an i7 made for a fitpc.
Just a shame I can't justify a carpc to use it on anymore.

Ah I mis-read your post, my apologies. Look into Wake on Lan, and see if your laptop supports it. Someone made a dongle that could plug into your ethernet port, and allow you to push a button to power on the laptop.

I decided to redo my laptop with a dual boot on windowsXP and openSuse. so i can now turn on the laptop and then slip it in its dock.
