Acer Aspire Revo R3700 Audio Output

Hey all not sure if this is the right place to post this up i have installed a few car pcs now in mine and other peoples cars. all of them have been with variations of the Acer aspire Revo machine's.

All off the installs have been slightly different

In my lexus it was direct into the amps full audio build

IN the Sc430 i worked on it was fed into the low level input on the factory system by intercepting the audio lines from headunit to install

in my current car i have added a Aux input to the factory bose system by wiring direct to the tape output in the headunit.

When i test the system with the IPhone it works great lots of volume and clear audio

when i use the Acer Revo its poor quality and with the headunit at maximum the audio is still not terrible loud and im getting interference noise.

any suggestions on what i could try to overcome this.

im going to build a Ground Loop Isolator to take care of the static noise, along with Noise suppressor on the Power line.

neither of the above will cure the low volume though so any tips on that would be good

have you tried the laptop with the power cord and while running off the battery?

HI mate funy you should say that have just bought the unit into the house and everything seems to run ok when connected to the Tv via the MIni stereo, i did have it running just off the battery and with the engine running, but the audio volume was the same

incidentally the audio setting when connected to the car was showing Speakers but when in the house its showing Headphones but after a drivers update etc now showing spekaers and sound quality is still good

its looking like the output level is being reduced when in the car making the audio quality so low like it almost needs a pre amp to boost it which is unusual....

just to make sure-- i am talking about running the laptop off it's internal battery(so the audio cable is the only thing connected)--not the car battery. is that what you tested?

The revo isnt a laptop it's a desktop pc so can only run whilst powered by something be it the Carnetix or the standard psu....

ok tried it in the car with the mains plumbed in and still no joy its almost like the computer is having issues with the sound output even through an external soundcard,

i have also now tried with a different laptop connected to the same audio source and that works fine sound output is great...

looks like a settings problem on the Revo
