    Hey guys

Just a quick kinda preview thing. This is a "functional mockup". The buttons work, but the text doesn't. Now, understand that this shows two different screens at once. It's not meant to do that!

The arrow will be what switches you between the condensed version (on the right hand side of the screen) and the more verbose version (in the middle, on the bottom.) So you'll only have one of these two boxes on your screen at once. Once is meant for just cruising, so you can enjoy your GPS eye candy, and the other is a bit more functional.

It looks odd, on the right, not being centered, but I had to move it more down, otherwise it gets in the way of GE's zoom controls.

The light is internet access (so, it's useful if you have the wardriver on), the lighting bolt is for the quick menu, music is for the quick music floater screen, arrow is to expand/contract between the menus, and X exits the GPS menu.

I'm not a graphics artist! I know these icons are ugly, please feel free to make some that fit nicely and convey the right message Remember that these boxes will not be on the screen at the same time, just one at a time.

And, of course, I want your input and tell me what you like/don't like!

Looks like fun! I'd suggest saving the screen space by removing the SW @ 180 heading info because the compass in the upper right gives you that already (maybe not heading, but direction, at least) I think altitude would be more interesting.

You should man I use the following unit, and it works PERFECTLY fine:

    http://store.mp3car.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=48

GPS is, in essence, pretty much already in AMP. Doing the GPS part is going to be a big learning experience for me. So AMP will evolve through stages of GPS implementation (ie, Stage 1, Stage 2, etc) as I become more and more familiar with GPS and what we can do with it, and what info I can extract and manipulate.

With what I have now, I can really already eliminate the need to load GPS2GE. But the user will need to install gpsd. Which they should do anyway

Anyway, .. go ahead and get a unit man! I wish I could get some commission lol!

well i think that if we could get rid of GE entirely i would be more inclined to get one. I like that we can do turn by turn, but once we can do door to door directions with out GE i wont be completely satisfied.

but good start my friend, i will start work on images.

I have a question (or perhaps a suggestion). Is it possible to select between a map view and the Satellite view?

On another note. St. Maarten eh? My wife and I were just out there on a cruise back in late July. Talk about a nice place (at least for someone who loves the ocean).

I don't think GE allows you to specifically set a map-only view. I know there are map overlays (roads, etc) for their satellite photos, buut I don't think it allows exclusively the viewing of maps.

Just a note, AMP will have the "native" support for GE, in terms of also acting like a GPS2GE program to generate the KML file for GE to use, but as far as launching the actual GPS program, the program that launches is configurable (so you can run whatever software you want, with the same little "tool" windows you see in the screenshot above.) The other programs (Route66, RouteBuddy, etc) wont need the KML as GE does, but it wont hurt the other program in anyway (in fact, it wont even generate the KML file if you aren't using GE.)

So.. It will support really any GPS program.

... Yes, St. Maarten Yall docked in Phillipsburg, right? And you walked along all the shops. I love all the "fakes" there. My parents bought a whole set of knock-off Loius Viuton (sp?) luggage for under $100! St. Maarten is an OK place. I think it's like anywhere, it's great for a few weeks, but after living here over a year, it starts to get old. The same few restaurants, the same people, the same everything. But I tend to like remote, isolated places. After I get done with clinicals, I'm thinking of heading up to Canada's North West Territories or the Yukon to do a few years out there in the cold, isolated tundra. After that I'd like to spend some time in 3rd world countries that really actually appreciate and need physicians and medical care. ... I think I'm the weirdest person alive, lol.

sup guys...first off I'm running a PPC Mac Mini and

I'm still having issues with the movie importing...

Here's the thing I have over 600 Music Videos which are there and I can;t find a way to have them imported correctly...

First I assumed that AMP should pick them up automatically inside the Movies folder, but it didnt then I imported then I tried both ways to import and I still have not successfully had my complete video playlist looking fine, at some point I've had it double like I mentioned earlier...I did also notice that every single time I impot it gets stuck on SAVING(at the end of importing) and won't stop, maybe it's a bug.
What are the correct steps to importing video?

Just a quick suggestions that would be nice...if possible
I wondered if this is possible, can you have the movies navigate like the songs,in other words forward and back instead of stop and choosing another? Can you make it remember where you left off last time, not the actual video but the file in the playlist?

Keep up the AMAZING WORK! Your very talented and thanks for taking your precious time towards helping out this small mac automotive community!

Bummer. As my luck would have it, many of the images around where I live are really poor quality. Those that are good resolution are at least 5 years old. For that matter, even my TomTom software doesn't show my street even though it's been there since at least 2001 when my house was built.

That's cool. Is it possible launch more than one app like say GE and Roadnav and flip between them? I know that gpsd can support multiple programs at once.

I also came up with another suggestion in regards to navigation within AMP itself. Perhaps you could have a "Home" button that zips you back to the main screen. This would alleviate have to back all the up before going to another function. You might also look at adding a drop down menu giving you 2 click (touch) access to Music, Videos, Apps etc. from anywhere in the program.

One other thought (yes I'm full of them tonight and probably should be posting these to the Wishlist). Have you given any thought to adding a fifth icon to the front screen? This will give you one more function that has quick access (like Nav or Radio/XM/Sirius).

Hehe. We didn't spend much time on St. Maarten but went swimming with dolphins on one of the other islands. About the only shopping we did was to buy 4 liters of rum. Now St. Thomas on the other hand......
