Well, what OS?
Unfortunately I think you will get a unit with very poor hardware, I am not saying it will not work, but anything not upgradable does not work for me.
So most systems that are ready to go usually runs linux, Win XP or some early Android version. What I am saying is that there are tons of products out there that are sold and will never be kept up with new software.
I would still like to know what you bought and the functionality of it and of course what you think of it.
Woot.com has a Archos 7 for 79$ right now FYI
Unfortunately too old and not upgradeable, but it is a good price though.
Project on ice, car has only left garage for a wash this summer, will probably not get out of there at all.
Have you found the solution yet?
Meanwhile another cheap android tablet with FM receiver showed up: Intex iTab P300 from India http://www.techibuzz.com/intex-itab-...s-specs-price/.
Ofcourse the hardware is rather poor...
This one looks promising, but I did a quick search and could as usual not find anywhere to buy it. I think I have looked into all tablets having FM reciever and none of them went to the market in time. They all basically got obsolete before released.

One big disappointment with this one, not Android 4...
I currently have at Asus EEEpad running Android 4 and really like it, but that one has no FM reciever and is not installed in the car.
Since I have a monitor installed in the car I thought I would try a different route since the tablets were a letdown. Ordered a HDMI->VGA converter and will try to connect my SGS2 to the monitor, if good enough I will probably order one of these when possible:
Still, I think installing a tablet is the best idea for me, but it needs the following:
7-8 inches, depends on size, limited space in centre console
3G, would be nice, but I can also do WIFI-tethering from phone
HDMI would be nice to steal digital sound output from since I have digital input on Amp
Will do initial test with phone first since I cannot find any tablet with FM reciever to buy, I can read alot about them but not buy...
Have you considered streaming Internet Radio, crystal clear radio.
Or some of the bike amps I looked at had a built-in FM Tuner.
Or can you use a personal FM Radio and output that to your amp for when you want to listen to the radio?
Of course, sucks when going abroad, or, the price for it sucks...

I have no original headunit left in the car, dont want anything more then one thing in it aswell.
Just building a thing that works I could use different parts from anything, problem is to have them interact, I want a all in one solution. It should be better then a factory solution otherwise it feels like I am taking a step back.
If I could I would take my SGS2 apart and replace the touchscreen with a 8" capacitive one and everything would be perfect.
I've found another one - this time Indonesia! Cyrus Tvpad: http://www.tokobbc.com/index.php?mai...roducts_id=104
Is it forbidden to sell tablets with FM receiver in countries other than 3rd world? ;-)
Unfortunately all "3rd world" tablets seem to be running old Android versions and from what I have seen they tend to disappear from the market before they are upgraded to new version...
I found something that at least looks promising...
ZTE Light Tab 2
It has all the bells and whistles and FM-reciever, besides, ZTE is a big company and will not go away in the near future...
Some drawbacks though, Android 2.3 and ZTE homepage needs some serious help, both the swedish and then global one...
