I don't even need nav, just traffic info and music (streaming via Orb?) control, playlist selection. I plan to leave the tablet in the car at all times (making it 'removable' for maintenance or eventual having to park in bad neighborhood issues but not portable in an everyday sense), I think I can get away with that if I mount it on the center console (truck) or in the overhead console (car). I'm sure wife would want it that way :-)

Very good, sir. I wanted it portable because honestly, it'll cut down on the need to purchase 2 *lol*. As far as the setup, I've already acquired 2 DEQ-9200s (paid $60 last Friday for the latest one!) and everything else for the car (front stage, amps, sub). I have the front stage for the truck, I just need to pick up the 2 Class D amps and the sub I've been looking at, and I'll be squared away.

To be funny once i programmed tasker to start the winamp app when i connected to my home wifi, then sent a command to the main house PC to turn the volume up and play AC/DC "Back in Black" as i pulled into the garage. I was really that day!

I tried Winamp a couple times, as it is what I use on my PC, but I wasn't overly impressed w/it on Android. The functionality of PowerAmp is excellent, it even has a built in EQ and PreAmp, which is something I have yet to find on any music player worth it's salt. Coupled that the interface is very, very slick, I use it as my primary.

Have you seen it outside? That screen is *BRIGHT*! I measure it against my Evo. I know that the unit is brighter than my Evo's screen, as I've played w/a Tab and compared them side by side, and I can see the Evo's screen quite easily in daylight. Given that, unless you're in a convertible, I'd have to say you'd be all right.

^^^Exactly. See my post above with AnandTech's review. Super highcontrast and great viewing angles, exactly what you need in the car because you yourself can't move around much strapped to the seats...

You can't beat a quality screen like that at that price. Plus, you got a whole computer attached to boot, so talk about value...

Well, picked up a tab, it should be here in a couple days. I think this would offer a good point from which to start modding a mount.

cool! Keep us posted! Yeah the car dock looks good, but it looks it needs some trimming here and there...:-)

Yeah, I was thinking I might have to start a build thread. I just picked up a Pioneer 4 chan Class D amp on the cheap, so I have a front stage now:

-Galaxy Tab
-Pioneer DEQ-9200
-Pioneer GM-D9500F
-Focal 165VRS component set (not going to use the tweeters)
-Image Dynamics CD1E horns

Hopefully the amp and tab will be here before the weekend. If not, it's all right, I'm patient
