ya i'm guessing that they were testing it but it wasn't ready for release. i hope they bring it back as well, i have found a few interesting things lately, there is a youtube video of a guy from ukraine running the play market on his CA-FI, he said he would send me a link and let me know how to do it. also i installed a orientation app that has been working quite nicely for defaulting my 3rd party apps to landscape. the guys from juliabrothers.net have really cracked this thing a lot better than we have....i just wish i spoke Russian and had more time to tinker with it.

ya I noticed that there were a few people on the CAFA forum from that area.
Did you see the vid that someone had posted of the test model with the capacitive screen? It looks pretty nice, I'm hoping that comes out soon.

I never even would have thought about 3rd party apps displaying in the wrong mode, glad you found a solution to that.

no i haven't seen that video yet but i'd definately be interested if you have the link. both pandora and Waze were defaulting to portrait for whatever reason. i need to test out some other nav programs as Waze has been somewhat buggy and really loads down the unit.

I can't find it on there, someone had posted a link to it on their forum before they shut it down.

    Looked pretty good.

Hopefully they get that forum back online soon and it's still there.

looks like the ca-fi forum is back up, i just used it although it's a little decieving because you can't actually see the topics or threads until you sign in. also i found that video with the capacitive screen, i'm excited to see what happens with it.

I'm really excited about the newer model, I hope they start to release some info on it.
I really hope by the time it comes out, it has at least ICS but even better would be Jelly Bean.

i have my reservations about anything past 2.3 running on the hardware anytime soon due to the fact they have so much propietary hardware and legalities involved although the native USB support would be a welcome suprise. I'm sure we will see some more soon, i'm guessing capacitive multitouch with the 1.2Ghz 512 ram specs they've been advertising for a while now.

Just checking in to say I recently received the Mazda-spec unit for my 2008 Speed3. Been a bit of an adventure getting acquainted with it, but I'm making progress. Looking forward to seeing what the community can do with this thing.

welcome to the discussion, it definately is a task learning all the little in's and out's of the headunit, still messing with mine as well. unfortunately i dont know if the community can do much with it or is even interested, mostly because of the propietary hardware involved and the non-open source code related to it. time will tell though, if there's a will to hack it there's a way to hack it.

by the way innotrends just announced their upgraded capacitive multitouch model with a 1Ghz processor and 512Mb ram, runs android 2.3 and comes with torque and play market pre-installed with a updated user interface, they are taking pre-orders now listed at $999. check it out here: http://ca-fi.com/en/archives/1027

Looks like it's marked down to $888 now

Android 2.3 is Gingerbread isn't it?
I just wish these things could be upgraded.

I think I'm going to pick one up this winter, or next spring. I'll have one before I start driving the car next summer either way.
