I can't stand the radio but for those who enjoy it this unit should suffice, not hd but it's easy to use. Of course there are plenty of radio apps out there too. I'll have to get some video of navigating through the menus. There are quite a few already on YouTube if you haven't checked it out

Yes I have seen lots of videos of the app radio 2, and a few of the killnanny app. What I have not seen is how the 2 interact. How easy it is to navigate from the standard head unit function to the phone (like will it disconnect and reconnect everytime I leave the android mode). Also I have not seen what takes precedence in certain situations. Like say I am using the built in FM radio and its playing then I go to the android mode to play a youtube video is the FM radio still going to play or will it mute it, or does FM radio go away the second I enter the android interface. In other words I could not listen to FM radio while using google maps. And will phone calls be answered through the head units bluetooth function or through the android phone. I'm just curious about random stuff like that. Sorry, I know I'm a pain haha.

No worries, that is definitely an important part of any unit, I've been focusing on the kill Nanny functionality so I haven't tested the rest of that out much, I'll see if I can't put something like that together and get it posted up

I'll try to answer some of this as best I can:

You can bounce out of appmode to deck and back again with ease on the latest beta.

FM will stop when you go into appmode, but you can then easily run a radio app to continue listening if you so wished. I don't think this was possible with even the stock setup.

I haven't tried taking a call yet, but I am pretty sure the deck will take over and take the call, the deck settings superceed appmodes so basic functions like that would take priority. Once complete you would be taken back to appmode.

    good to hear.

Yea, it wouldn't make sense for it to be set up like that so this is the answer I expected. Is what it is.

This is also the answer I expected and that's not a huge deal, I can still initiate a call from android, which is much more important than receiving. Plus the phone interface on the unit looks pretty solid so either way its all good.

I'm just about sold on this solution....it's the best of all worlds. I learned a long time ago with my first carputer setup that its always nice to have an actual head unit somewhere in your setup in case things go wrong, you still have music and sound. Unlike the x2 module this actually has a capacitive touch screen and is a much easier install. It includes phone calling and answering, and the head unit will handle the auto switch. The more I think about it the less I can think about a better setup. I might be dropping 350 dollars tonight haha.

it's the best setup i've had so far, although i'll probably be picking up a dedicated android handset for it so i don't have to plug in my phone all the time and other people who use my truck still have something to listen too. plus i can torque log automatically etc etc

Just realized that I was wrong about listening to the radio in app mode. If you double click the home button the sub menu bar pops up. Then click mix and click radio. Now you have radio running in app mode. If you start music in apps they'll both play at the same time.

I haven't tested it yet but it includes all feeds so you should be able to listen to your ipod at the same time as running android app mode if you set the deck up to do both.

As well torque works great running with arliberator. (which is now on the play store) I use a blue tooth obd2 dongle I picked up from deal extreme.

it does work quite well although i noticed some small hiccups in my music while i was streaming pandora and running torque with ARliberator...at that point i think i'm stressing it pretty good

i would like to try and use a standalone device as my appradio server in conjunction with tablet talk so i can still recieve calls and announce texts. still got a few things to figure out.
