android and joseph huh lol, i'm assuming you meant iphone, this app is only available with android devices at this time, there is an app called appradio extensions that you can use with iphone though, it's not a full iphone experience as i understand it.

your phone does have to be connected for this to work since all the video output is done through the cable.
i don't know of any way to add a external memory unit other than keeping a ipod in your car or another device.
not sure if this is restricted to US bands but i believe i have seen some UK users on youtube with this. you should be able to find them over at appradioforums.com

Hmmm, does connected mean by cable or does that mean BT or wifi?

Both actually, touch commands are transmitted through Bluetooth while the video and audio is transmitted through the hdmi mhl cable
