Question about using tablet to control head unit

Can anyone with the newer "App remote" head unit share their experience?

I am thinking about installing the Nexus 7 at the current head unit location, found out there are newer Sony "App remote" that's not only shallower, but also can be controlled from tablet through bluetooth.
That'll be my ideal solution because I wanted to hide the head unit behind the tablet since the space is there. Couple questions if anyone can help:

    1. From user manual it seems a button need to be pushed on the head unit in order to pick up a phone call, can this be done through tablet?
    2. When tablet is paired with head unit, can I still pair the tablet with, say a OBDII scanner?
    3. Phone is paired with head unit not tablet correct?

Got answer for #1, button needs to be pushed on the head unit in order to answer calls. This applies to the current 3 models Sony has:
WX-GT90BT, CDX-GS500R, N5000BT. Besides this most of other functions can be controlled from app like, changing source, volume, EQ adjustment, tuning station...

    Haven't found answer for #2 and #3.
