It would be helpful if someone posted a thread on how to hack the phone or a link to a walkthrough.

I'm acutally replying with my phone right now.. I will set up a tutorial and all the links when I get a hold of a pc. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Yes the rc29 - rc 30 uses radio version 1.12 while the new rc33 uses radio 1.14 honesty I feel no different in communication but now near my work place I got 3g instead of edge so maybe that's what the updat is?. No too sure

Why not just charge your G1 in your car while you tether?

Just started using this in my car, it's a great solution. Even non-3g is speedy enough for what I'd need while driving.

Going to into using the USB tethering though because I might need to get rid of my PCI wireless card.

ive had this on my winmo phone for almost a year now. dont use it all the time though, it just doesnt make sense to use wifi when youre charging the phone anyway through usb. usb tethering is always faster to connect and more reliable anyways.

not to mention, ad-hoc networks like these can be difficult to get even low level security encryption working on various peoples stuff that wants to connect. with all 'public access' hotspots, its best to run unprotected. because of that, and the fact you have to charge the phone anyways, using wifi tethering is really only good for certain times when other people actually need internet..... for everyday use, usb is the way to go.

    USB tethering.

FYI, Cyanogen's newest image has USB tethering. Click a checkbox, plug in your USB, and off you go.
