    I haven't ordered yet.

Rear camera should be possible with the video input box. There is documentation for it at the bottom of the page you linked.

Also the video input box has a touchscreen cable pass through to work with a stand alone GPS box that they sell. However if you're using mimics then you just want to hook the touchscreen cable up to mimics and ignore the one on the video input box.

I would email custom gadz about your order and the 8 pin touchscreen wire.

Will you be using one of the composite video inputs or will you try to use the rgb input on that adapter? Look for the thread I created about how to convert hdmi to rgb+s

going to look for your thread now. also, I was browsing through gsmserver website and noticed they had three different links for rcd-510 units. I understand from this that there are multiple versions of the same model no? mine is manufactured by delphi, so I might have to use the second link below, but the photo of the unit in the third link is exactly the same as the one i have. do you know anything about this?

These 8-pin adapters are already getting made and should be available in about a week.

Sorry I don't know anything about the different video input adapters for different brand units, as I haven't gotten totally serious about this project yet.

I will try to look at those links and maybe pull my head unit this weekend to check the brand to see if I can give you a better answer. Have you tried emailing them?

Hi, Last night I took apart my RCD-510 and it has a 4-pin touchscreen cable (My unit is made by Delphi). The interior parts matched with the pictures in the pdf below.

    http://gsmserver.com/nfs/product/823..._interface.pdf

I believe the RCD-510 owned by firstorbit84 is most likely made by a different vendor and thus has the 8-pin touchscreen controller.

You might want to open the unit too (only one screw on the top for mine) and then two screws on each side of the unit to pull the cd changer module. Then you can access the bottom portion and check which board you have.

I honestly don't know which unit I have. Where did you see that yours is manufactured by Delphi?

My car is a 2010 Jetta, made in Mexico. I just assumed I have the 8-pin connector because that's what I saw in the manual for the non-Delphi video input adapter. It does look like the Delphi has a 4 pin touchscreen interface.

Again, I'll try to pull mine and check this weekend.

Edit: perhaps we should make our own thread about rcd-510 video input options.

Plus, I'm thinking about going with a pioneer appradio 2 and the arliberator app instead because the end result is the same but the net cost after selling my rcd-510 will come out less

Its on the top of the unit. Infact, I just found another pdf installation and the unit shown in the photos is the exact same one that I have.

In this case, your's might be the old version which uses the 8-pin connector. Only way to find out is pull the unit apart, it took me 15 min or less to do.[/QUOTE]

I was thinking the same thing, but once I finish putting everything together.

I looked at that too but my goal is in keeping the head unit looking stock and retain the factory goodies (voice commands/a2dp etc); unfortunately, it doesn't seem cost effective since I'll be spending more on this setup rather than going with the pioneer appradio2.

You can have "back" "home" "settings" for the moment if your device doesn't have onscreen softkeys.
just a thought, what about on screen buttons, so you don't need hardwired buttons. could be a program that runs when the device is connected to the module. also have the option to turn them off for phones that already have onscreen buttons.

I really wish I could get an ETA or response on when these will finally be made available. I ordered so long ago and my final presentation in my professional communications class for grad school is based around integrating a smart phone into a car dash. So....if I cannot get this module I may have to rethink my whole presentation and re-do a lot of work.
