    I work in powertrain electronics for GM, I think we can run out being "non tech".

    Considering you're working with a bare circuit board, relying on a couple LEDs for confirmation is still pretty straight forward without any sort of GUI. I'm using the setup now although not to its fullest. The provided calibration screens didn't work for me. I had to recalibrate countless times just guessing the x and y coordinates with different touches on the overlay. I've gotten the touches almost spot on, but I'm still unable to use (touch) 20% of the display on the right side only.

    Brentsten, do you have another touchscreen panel to test it? I had once a similar issue with my car pc touchscreen (it started after some time, I would touch the screen and the cursor would move to one corner) and it was solved immediately by replacing it with a new one. Perhaps the one you ordered from China was defective.

    I purchased two touchscreens because the shipping was so long in case I broke one. Both screens had the same effects. I gave up messing with it for about a month since I couldn't get it to work and Dave wasn't able to help. I did get it working a little better, although the scrolling still isn't completely accurate. The board would not let me perform a device selection, but it magically worked over the weekend.

    Sorry I wasn't able to assist you with the touchscreen issue, but that doesn't mean I didn't attempt to find out the issue. The mimicsX2 currently supports many brands of touchscreens but we couldn't test every single combination. However, we did come across one that mimics (no pun intended) the letterboxing type issue.

    So.. We rewrote the the entire auto touchscreen detection routine and discovered that there were still a few types of touchscreens not correctly supported. This is now fixed in the latest firmware (we will release in a matter of days). We also eliminated the need for the device selection system. Although for this to work you need to download the "MimicsX2 In car mode" Google play app which is already available on the play store. We haven't notified our customers yet as it relies on the new firmware update in order for it to work.
    The Google play app does do the following.
    - One shot calibration system that can now detect many touchscreen combinations - No need to recalibrate again if flipping touchscreen orientation
    - More accurate positioning (dependent on touchscreen linearity)
    - Fix for touch swipe error
    - Auto force rotate and locking to landscape mode - even rotates apps that don't normally do this
    - Auto screen dimming
    - Volume preset
    - Auto bluetooth enable
    - Reverts automatically to previous setting when phone is not in mimics2 mode
    - Supports devices up to Android KitKat
    - Not root required

    So if any Mimics2 users are having issues with device setup, then new firmware update and Google play app will allow you to set up the device in a matter of moments.

    Please let me know if there are any setup issues after the updates.

    Yes I admit that previously shipping has taken a while in the past, and some people have been waiting for their refunds, and we are sorry that we upset various customers.. Eventually they all got their product/refund or product. Yes, we also did upset many people along the way but in the end there has been peace most of the time.

    Its a long read to read all the history of this thread, but you will see that we had our ups and downs and we are doing our best to make everyone happy. Its best to read the quotes from actual customers as non customers tend to twist an highly exaggerate things somewhat and make us intentionally look bad. There are many examples of this.

    Sandro59 order has been dispatched a few days ago so we should be on top of everything by next week.

    If anyone else has any issues please contact me an I will ensure things get sorted ASAP.

    Some feedback on the new Android app and touchscreen calibration auto detection system would be great also for all those current MimicsX2 customers. Make sure you update to the latest v1.3.0 MimicsX2 firmware for this new system and other features to work.
