Any updates?
I'm a newb when it comes to installs like this. I'm going to take it and have other guys install it for me. I'm a bit confused though. I can use a touchscreen headunit I already have with this? Will a Pioneer F900BT work? If so do I just have them connect it up to a different input on the headunit?
Thanks.
Any updates?
The transformer tablet keyboard has hardware buttons for two core Android functions: BACK and HOME. That means it's perfectly possible without BT, you just need a custom rom.
Add music/video transport buttons (play pause next etc.) and that's all I want. Maybe hacking a bt headphone, like the Motorola 305?![]()

Been almost 2 weeks without any news ?
ETA or shipping dates ?
I've been looking for a solution like this! I have an HTC MyTouch 4g Slide with a cable that plugs into the headphone jack and has RCA jacks on the other end for video and audio. I currently have my phone connected to my Lilliput touch screen but have to control the phone directly. This should allow me to control the phone through the touch screen, right?
Quick question, I am making my wire harness now...
any idea on what the power input will be, 12v i assume, ?amps
any problems with being connected to ACC power, so only on with ignition ?
and lastly, any thoughts on plug size ?
Thanks
This product seems to be exactly what I am looking for. My wrx does not have a screen in it currently and I would like to replace the headunit with a touchscreen and use my cyanogenmod powered Evo 4g as its replacement. However I am not very educated when it comes to car wiring and would like some help. Apart from this kit, this is what I think I need:
-Touchscreen http://store.mp3car.com/Direct_Fit_D..._p/dsh-023.htm (not sure if I need the HDMI version)
-Amp for speakers
-Wiring harness to connect the speakers to the amp http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207075...s.html?tp=2977
My question is how do I get audio from the phone into the amp? What kind of audio out does the dock have? Am I missing anything else? I appreciate the help.
The power input for the Android module is a bit different from the iOS version. This one is powered via a USB port (5v), so it can easily be connected to a direct USB port in your vehicle. Alternatively you can get one of those cigarette lighter to USB adapters. We did it this way to make it easier to power/update the module.
A monitor with a HDMI input is recommended so no need for additional adapters. You will just need to purchase the double din frame for your vehicle and then fit the monitor. The Element 7" monitor has an on board audio output that you can use to connect to the RCA inputs of your amp. You can also use A2DP if you phone can support it while using a HDMI connection.
If you need to use a monitor that has a VGA input, you can get HDMI to VGA adapters that extract the audio output. *note, the quality difference between HDMI and VGA on a 7" monitor is very minimal.
Some Android docks have audio outputs so you can use that also. We have found that the audio extracted from the HDMI output is better than the output from docks.
