recently I've been playing around with processing.js (reading inputs from arduino) is it possible to integrate the js apps into this front end? if it is possible... can i PLEASE put in a feature request to include that! that would be amazing!

Hey guys. I don't see why this wouldn't work on another hardware platform, as long as it runs Android. My immediate concern would be the touch interface. Things like the maps use the multitouch, and I don't know about any screens (Liliput for example) that use capacitive touch, they all use resistive, not allowing for multitouch.
As for the Arduino side, the code there is really nothing I want to share at the moment, it is not ready to be shared.
Interfacing with the windows isn't really that hard in my case, because I am doing ALL of the wiring custom, there is nothing stock any more. In anybody else's case this won't be the same. So, to get low level hardware control will need some electrical knowledge and willing to cut into the harness, unless you can control things via the CAN-BUS or something, then there are Arduino modules for that (I don't have any though, so I've not written any code to support them).

Currently I am still designing and prototyping the interface hardware, and am working on modularity, but life being what it is, these things take time.

I've never really used Processing before. What exactly are you looking for? I can already read inputs from the Arduino and use that info on the droid, but it's in my proprietary format for the moment. I'm hoping to change that eventually into something a little more open (maybe Firmata or something)

I'm making some custom gui's and gauges that read serial data from the arduino (just a simple serial.write at the moment). I'm in the process of getting a classic car and want to incorporate some modern conveniences that will be controlled via arduino/processing. If you could run the .js apps from your front end, it would open the world of visual programming to more people. One thing in particular I wan't to explore is the use of distance sensors and a rear view camera. With processing.js I (think) i can overlay some distance data over the rearview camera feed. The other thing would be to make a gui for my a/c system with temperature read outs and function/mode control

I'm working on the very same type of system, having gauges and backup camera with overlay, etc... however, I'm doing it all in Android. Currently I don't see myself working on integrating any processing/js type of programming. I am hoping to make the app skinnable and customizable, but haven't gotten there yet. I still have so many features that I need for my own car, let alone things for everybody else.
My hope in sharing my code is that somebody (or multiple people) would want to contribute and the whole project can grow faster and in ways I never thought, but so far there has been a fair amount of interest in use, and nothing in development.

Sorry for the noob question, but have you literally wired your Arduino kit up to the window controls and stuff? And then the Arduino to the Tablet, or are there specific "car shields" for the Arduino?

Wouldn't it be so awesome if android would let you embed external activities (Apps) in your own? That way you could just build the UI with hardware car controls and maybe music player and settings and in a "canvans" in the center of the screen you'd have external apps running (like waze).
    Sad that it's not possible.
