Hey guys, love it or hate it, here is my latest video displaying the Ipad installed in my car. It now has full swivel abilties and so on.....

I basically modified an Iphone windshield mount and crazy glued it to a "dead space" on my factory faceplate. I'll try to show pictures when I get a chance.

Any plans on charging the ipad on the car or getting audio from the usb port, instead of the headphone jacks?

I can charge it if need be currently but not sure about USB audio because I think it will also try to send video out at the same time which will not display on the Ipad then. I have not tried it yet to see.

I love the G8 GT. great job on how quick you got the ipad installed. Hope it works for you. I wonder if you would be able to take advantage of the GMLAN hacking that regulatre and myself (soon) are doing.

Thanks, I'll have to look into the GMLAN thing in detail. I was unaware that was going on. I'm definitely interested.

I started planning an Ipad car install the moment I heard about it coming out. I've been using an in dash Ipod setup for a long time. I was inspired by "Bugbytes" thread to use the Iphone/pod as an in car "pc". The limitation of that is the small screen and remote control. The Ipad solves those issues very easily. I use apps like "Rev2.0" and "Dashcommand" to monitor OBDII metrics on the street and when I'm racing at the track. My future plans will include some sort of bluetooth control app of various things in the car. Touch screen remote start being one feature I'm looking forward to.

Fantastic work. I've been working on integrating the iPad into my 06 Impreza, but I've had to settle for removing swivel-ability due to the size limitations. I might look back into it.

Does your car have bluetooth AVCRP control over the ipad too? Can you use voice control to play/pause/next, etc.? Would it display song info/track name, or announce it via speakers?

I know the newer Infinitis do have AVCRP, not sure if 1.0, 1.3 or 1.4, or whatever, but that could be one more reason to trade in my 07...
