Just though I'd throw this out there. check out the "air display" it allows the ipad to act as a second monitor and input device. so if the ipad isn't powerful enough use a pc and use the ipad only as a display and input device.

Yes, there is some app called MaxiVista for PC, you can use your IPAD as a second monitor with this application, I'm using this application in my IPAD, in my car, connecting to my laptop by Ad Hoc wireless connection, Also using Airvideo for playing movies stored on laptop on IPAD.
