Here are some pics of the steps I took:

Here's a pic of my first install:
I didn't like it because this one slid in from the top and I had to manually connect the dock connector cable and interfere with the right air vent...

This is the shroud that I made out of plexiglass because it was easy to cut and see:

    More pics of the shroud:

Mounting the Actuator was tricky, but I got it to line up:

    And the final product:

    Night Time:

This was my second attempt at fiberglassing and here are some pictures of my first attempt with a molded GPS unit on the overhead console:

    Question Question to torres1708

    Hi torres1708,
I have a question regarding your setup. The dock connector you are using, where did you get that? I am having some trouble locating the dock connector that is flexible like yours...
    thanks in advance...

That's right Nate, I just took an iPad Dock apart and used the flexible ribbon cable for the tight space.

Did you actually extend your top console for the HU? I was actually looking to do something similar but was wondering if weight was an issue? Did you have to reinforce that area?

I didn't extend the top of the console. It's just the shroud for the iPad that I made that's sticking out. It's not too heavy, but I did reinforce it by placing the hinges on the left and resting the weight on the actuator arm on the right so it won't sag.

It's an Avic f500bt GPS unit. Now I mainly use it for the reverse camera input, it also has USB input and Bluetooth.

lol... I am in the process of replacing my car-pc w/ iPad...
His setup does look great but I don't have any spaces for an actuator...
