I like it! No dashboard motive/giant Alpine like wannabe interface, I like that. This is the way to go, no buttons, we want gestures/voice for the basics (play/ff/rwd, etc.).
However, not sure about the album art should being so big - there are a couple of apps out there with a display like that, is going to be harder to differentiate from them as far as the looks? I'd rather see something else, like more about the next on the playlist, or more info about genre, lyrics, maps, etc. I also like the bold font for "Music", that's the way it should be.
Please, get rid of the time and date. Specially the date. Such a cliché, looks like you have no idea what else you gonna put there. If *must* have a clock, make it optional (under settings), also why is the clock in a bigger font than the song/album/artist info?
Not sure about how the no2. screen is going to look like in my (possibly) upcoming white iPad 2. No biggie, just something to keep in mind.
Nice work, keep us posted.
@RipplingHurst - I agree about the time and date stuff. I just wanted something to fill that area for the screenshot. I started working on the screenshots before the iPad 2 was announced and that it was gonna have a white one. I'm going to make a lot of it very customizable. I actually am wondering if there is a way programmatically to tell if its a white or black iPad, and use specific color schemes based on that. I agree that the album art may be to big, but the app isn't specifically for music only, so I figure as I start working on the other screens, that I will work out some of the looks on previous screens I've worked on.
Hope everyone had a great St. Patricks Day!
Looks great so far. Late to the party, but I don't have a lot of feature requests. Instead, I'd like to see a professional looking interface that plays music actually released. And yes, I would be willing to pay $$ for it. All the other features can be added later. It seems the Mac/iPad front ends fizzle out or fail to be competitive in appearance with other options. I do like CLEAN, simple interfaces. Less is more.
Thanks for the effort!
Just started reading this thread, so I am late as well.
Now I am not sure if it is possible to integrate additional hardware, but it would be cool to add support for the Air stash to the music player. For those who don't know the AIr Stash is wifi additional storage. Useful for anyone who needs\wants more then 64 gig of storage.
SO when will the beta version be published ?!
Recently i buy an ipad to swith my current carpc to it.
I see krillin screenshots and are fantastics! Is a current development or simply an idea?
Anyway, i see icetunes as a frontend, but i dont like the graphics 100% (maybe is customizable?)
Wich frontend do you use???
There is no front end yet. You can try a music player like Leechtunes, but there's no video player, and no way to lauch other apps yet on the market.
Umm then we need a launch app, which could open differents apps into it "windowed"
@chencho - being able to launch other apps "windowed" is not possible, as far as I am aware. It could be set up to launch other applications, but it would take you out of the current application.
@war085 - I haven't set a beta release yet, as I am currently still working on the app and my time with this project has been limited a little bit, because of my clients that are paying for my time, as this a project I'm doing more on my free time. If people would like to PM me with their email address, I will set you up in my list of testers for when the beta is released.
@mhermann - Early in the start of this thread, I had mention about using a sheeva for other things the iPad may not be able to provide, such as OBD-II, XM/Sirius, etc. I figure the 30-pin will be taken up for charging the device, I plan to write a service that the ipad talks to that can provide these services, and possible external storage access.
On another note, I am working on making this a universal app, where the iPhone is more of a control device, or for access iPhone music to send to the iPad.
Thank you for liking the design so far, but as I have been working on other projects, I've come across things that I tried to accomplish, similar to what I was planning for this app, and it was either unsuccessful, or didn't look and function how I wanted it to. So, I've decided, right now isn't the time for UI design, I should really be getting the back-end done, even release a beta that kinda looks ugly, so that its more of the functionality that people can test for me, and then when the testing is over, I'll get my designer involved to make it one awesome looking app.
I thank all of you who are still with me on this project, I know I've been away for a while, but I'm planning to be on more regularly.
