2011 Mustang GT 5.0 IPad Install

I ordered my 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 in January and took delivery May 02. I had ordered the car with Navigation but somewhere in the chain it got missed and received with no navigation. I looked into aftermarket dash kits but saw only 2 mfgs that made them. Both weren't what I wanted so I decided to install an IPad and move the existing controls to a overhead console.
    Check out the results here.

That's quite awesome. Not an Ipad fan myself, but this is very sweet. Wish I could afford one of the newer stangs for the engine. Not a fan of the inclined back-end, I still like the older body-style, but the engine..

    Ah well..

Detailing the install on that page is great. I've been thinking of how to move my HVAC controls for a bit, it never occurred to me to use the dome light section for this with bracing. This gives a giant, albeit short depth section to move crap to without it looking really like anything was altered. Nice.

I don't suppose there's an further information on how you traced the curvature and what was required for the overhead you constructed? Aside from the 1x4 pine, and some woodworking skills/tools, the latter of which I do not possess, but enough info to fake it would be good.

Well done. I'm contemplating replacing my Mac Mini install in my 350z with an iPad setup. Still not sure if I can get the iPad the way I'd like it, though.
Any day is a good day for golf.

Speedy was traded for a 2004 350z - Install complete except for permanent screen installation.

Thanks, I had a car-puter in my 2005 Mustang (Sony laptop with touch screen in dash). Was ok but I like the Ipad setup better.

    Yup!

The car-puter is ancient history. I literally had one in 1998.

I just used a thin piece of wood to make the template. Trial & error. Once I got the shape right, I traced it on the other wood.

    Simple, cheap, easy...thanks!

IŽll go back to the short-bus now for not thinking of that myself.
