kits and parts i need for installing ipad on 350z

hi everyone, i am new in this forum and im from UK.

I want to install apple ipad on my dash and i dont know what i need to buy, i just want to hear the music from my speakers that plays on iPad, also i know that i need to cut bits on old stereo dash and use fiber glass etc...(i think i can do that) but i dont know what cables i need for the ISO to link iPad.

I too have a 350z your number 1 problem with installing an iPad in it is the size of the dash. You first need to decide whether you want to mount it in portrait or landscape mode. Portrait is by far much easier in the 350z. You remove the radio and pocket above it and cut out the bar that separates the two and it is a near perfect fit. Landscape is a royal pita. Either you have it sticking out of the dash so far to make it removable that it just looks like *****. Or you have to make major modifications to the center dash piece and both sides of the dash where it mounts in to make room for the iPad. This means that you must pull out the center dash just to remove the iPad. I've done it all 3 ways and will get some pics of each up later if I can find them. As far as the audio output you have a ton of choices and depending on your budget and need for sq will determine how you will want to do it. Are you planning on using a headunit or using the iPad as the head unit?

Ok my setup is pretty basic for now. I have a custom built av cable for charging and audio output (of course the one you can buy from apple will work but I built mine for free instead of paying $40) this av cable is run to the equalizer to give volume control (the iPad cannot control the volume if it goes through the dock port) as well as better tuning than the iPad presets. The eq has front rear and sub outputs run to my amplifiers. Not the best sounding setup by any means but it works. For better sq you will need a DAC such as the istreamer then run this to your eq. And for the best possible sq use the istreamer combined with a high end signal processor such as an audison bit one or bit ten or similar to those.

hmmm

1. i need a av cable for charging and audio output
2. ill probly get a DAC (istreamer,)

what about the cables i need? cable for the ISO STEREO CABLE? normally when changing the head-unit you'll need a iso adaptor for certain cars...

but what cable do i need for iso stero cable in my z?

If you are going to use the iPad as a headunit then you will have to have an amplifier to power the speakers. If you have the non Bose stereo you can just buy the scosche or metra harness for your year model and wire the amplifier to that harness. If you have the Bose system I would suggest bypassing the factory amp which means you'll have to run new wire to your speakers and that wouldn't require you to buy a harness.

If you use the istreamer you will not need the av cable it uses a standard dock cable to interface with the iPad and also supports the 2.1amp charging the iPad requires

Edit: This is the harness I used in my 05 non Bose. I'm not 100% certain but after some research it appears that all the systems use the same harness. It would probably be best to ask a local installer to make sure before you buy the harness.
