Using an external touchscreen to INPUT to iPad?

So I was wondering if this has been done or is even possible. I would like to attach a secondary touchscreen display to my ipad that would allow me to control the ipad via a secondary touchscreen. The ipad & secondary display would be in "mirror" mode so they would display the exact same thing just allowing me to control it externally. I want to put an ipad in my vehicle but I would like to be able to permanently mount the touchscreen then just have a cable that goes to the ipad so I could keep it in the console or glovebox. This would make mounting in the vehicle much simpler since you would not have to make a intricate mount that allows the ipad to be removed. Is this possible?

The only way I can see this being possible is with jailbreaking the iPad. I haven't dont it myself, but I'm sure others have thought the same thing. When I get a second iPad, I'll work on this idea.

Not sure if it works with ipad all I see it talk about is iphone. I didn't go as far as mounting my ipad into the car dash I just got a regular screw to the floor mount and used it. Works good for what I want it for.

@andrewfblack: Mimics is cool if you have a jailbroken iphone... I'm not sure if it will work with iPad, but I bet if its jailbroken it would work. Also, what mount did you use?

Has anybody checked out ASUS and their PadFone?
I heard a previous rumor that there would be a model for the iphone as well.

Supposed to put your phone into the tablet to make it work, but I am sure you could use wires to connect it as well so you could use it in your car.

The latest Mimics update supports the (jail broken) IPad.
