How do you configure the GPS receiver port? I have a BU-303 on com4 and I've tried changing the port number in the skin.xml file to "4" with no luck. Mappoint finds and uses the reciever just fine.
edit: My garmin gps plugged into COM1 works. It also works no matter what the port setting is under <NavOptions>. It could be set to 4 and the gps works fine. In the little status window, it'll say "GPS OK! COM1, 4800".
So I'm guessing there is another way to tell Autotouch which port to use?

Hey Gremlin.... finally got to actually use AutoTouch in the car last night rather than on my desktop for testing... Great job
But one small question.... It doesnt keep my playlist between boots.. Or if I close the AutTouch (to access some other part of Windows) and re-open it.. I gotta load the playlist again.. Was it designed like that? Any way to fix that?
not a big deal but save me from having to load a new playlist each time...

Questions Answered...
Sigh, another week gone, first I get the flu and can't work, then my server craps out on me and need to be rebuilt. In doing so I screwedup my domain controller and currently can't login to my main desktop machine since I don't recall the Windows XP Password! Yikes!
Oh well, on to helping you guys out.
Apollo thanks for the kind words on the install, I'm glad it works well for you in the car. As for the playlist, you mean the one you assemble. Yeah that's kind of by desgin that it nukes in case something bad happens it tries to startup in sort of a fresh state each time. I could definitely add code to get it to save the current playlist eachtime (I wonder what the best way to do that is? (A) Save it to a custom file or (B) make a custom AutoTouch Playlist in Windows Media player each time and update it, hmm) You should be able to run other Windows Apps with AutoTouch still going, that's exaclty what happens when you run a DVD App, what is the behaviour that causes a problem here?
As for the question on the GPS ports, the only thing I can think of is that XML Tags are case sensitive (This is I believe a part of the XML design spec), so maybe you rejiggered the case on the COM tag? Check the other skins that came with the application?
IF the comport isn't specified (or the tag is wrong) it falls back on AutoDetect mode and will find the first thing it thinks is a GPS!

Gremlin... I think something like LC4 might help you "regain" your windows XP password..
if you have a XPe to boot from you can easily get back into your windows box... my copy of XPe has LC4 on it.. and its very easy to get the passwords for a XP box

like i said bud.. no rush.. I'm still ironing out some kinks taht are more important than a small graphic ;)
I'm trying to get AutoTouch to run a little smoother, since right now it seems a little sluggish...
Time to start tweakin

Unfortunately...
All the password stuff I found wouldn't work. The interesting thing is the one that most folks use Peter somethings linux boot disk, seemed like it worked but didn't. Apparently it couldn't write the resulting password reset to the drive. It's a long story, but suffice it to say make sure you know your admin password before you takea machine out of a domain!!!!
I've had to do a repair install of windows, which wasn't possible from my SP2 Slipstream CD for whatever reason (trust me I'll ping some folks I know that work there about that!!!) so I eneded up doing it off of my original XP Pro disc, now my machine is back but my machine is in some la-la land between XP origianl and SP2! What funl.
So all of these issues and my the amount of work I have been having lately have begun to make me think about just posting the AutoTouch source, and using this forum for us to do some work on it all together. What do people think of that idea? Also since my server is down, currently the main autotouch point is also down btw!

Gremlin, I can help in programming. I am good at .NET/ C# but more towards asp.net, webservices. I really liked autotouch UI. Its simply & straight forward.
Also I do have a web hosting account which I am not using currently at http://acebs.com. If you are interested you may use it for this project.

I just downloaded this and all I can say is WOW!!! Great job.
I started something like this myself a while ago but was nothing in comparison. I'd be happy to help with what I can unfortunately though I'm not good at C, primarily VB.NET so if there are pieces that you don't mind having written in that hit me up. Again GREAT job.
