  1. iPad in the Car - Forum Member Install

    by , 04-09-2010 at 04:25 PM
I started planning an Ipad car install the moment I heard about it coming out. I've been using an in dash Ipod setup for a long time. I was inspired by "Bugbytes" thread to use the Iphone/pod as an in car "pc". The limitation of that is the small screen and remote control. The Ipad solves those issues very easily. I use apps like "Rev2.0" and "Dashcommand" to monitor OBDII metrics on the street and when I'm racing at the track. My future plans will include some sort of bluetooth control app of various things in the car. Touch screen remote start being one feature I'm looking forward to.

Overall the iPad is a great device and will have some really good mobile applications. The best way to describe it is to say that it just feels right.

Jalopnik has an article about Dave Phipps who uses an iphone to control his car. We shot a video like this at SEMA a few months ago. Thanks Tom Berry for the tip!
