    Sorry for the delay, it should show up as a numbered com port, usually over com 9 or similar.

    My problem is solved !! Step 2 of your instructions on you 05-26 post, triggered my brain to investigate the GPS further. Turns out that there are several options for data output; two of which are: "NMEA 0183/1.5" and "NMEA 0183/2.0". NMEA 0183/2.0 had been selected. When I selected NMEA 0183/1.5, everything worked exactly as designed and my little boat chugs along the hydro chart on the computer with all its associated data. Apparently the version of the navigation software (Nobeltec) that I have will only accept the earlier version of NMEA data. Thanks again, Teknoledgi, for your patience and help.
