There is an AVR Atmega inside the radio as what I can only assume is the controller chip. I'm willing to bet the tuner is capable of tuning to any channel, but the atmega is limiting it.

Anyone adventurous enough to open up their radio, hook a logic analyzer up to it and see what's going on? :P

Iīve alread opened and checked the tunner chip. The chip (philips) itself is capable of tunning all frequencies. But I donīt have the knowledge to make the necessary changes. The module has a kind of socket that could be used to program the firmware. But thatīs me just speculating....

I see someone has opened the box, can you tell me the exact modell number on that philips chip ? ALso are there anyone else trying to get this EU compatible ?

Will mp3car.com refund this radio or exchange them in something for EU ?

Anyone got any info to share ?

search...i have tried 2 different radios..
    1. the terratech cinergy 600 which is old, will NOT work with RR on win vista & 7 (only XP). but is the best radio i have tried.. 100% compatible with RR. (it is a PCI though)
    2. The Directed HD radio.. is the second best. (regarding signal quality) but will not search in europe.. only direct tune will work ( i rarely use search) it is USB, it worls with all windows vesions.. and Mitch's support is great. although you have to struggle to find a Directed HDradio these days.

ok, this thread is a major kick in the nuts....i live in UK just got it shipped over...now to find out i cant tune most of the stations over here...i think its worthwhile making the warning thats on mp3car store in the main description in bold or something like that, because this is quite an expensive mistake to make....(current warning is normal print including typo lol in the extended info tab)

its a fantastic unit btw, very robust and good clarity on stations it will find...

moving on, anyone with any ideas to help us europeans sort it? really would liek to sort it am willing to try anything, because its pretty much deadweight now, its been lightly modified to fit in my car so cant even send it back...

This one works in Europe, I strongly suggest you use the correct converter to connect to the car antenna. It's also supported by CF and RR.

actually there is no offical RR support for it(the http://cartft.com/catalog/il/1139), i have one of them
and have a remaining issue with it, that is still unsolved by the manufacturer
its just a FM tuner, thats really ment to provided TMS data...
its performance was nothing specail, maybe the same as the Silabs dongle
    -Thanks

oh, and a antenna adaptor is really a damm bugger here
since they used a 2.5mm jack...
need a 2.5mm to Motorola adaptor(good luck finding)

if you read the reviews on it, you wont want one
    -Thanks
