Need help, white noise after hibernation and too loud

    Windows XP SP3
    RR 9/2010
    Winamp 5.58
BoomzBox software (cant remember version right now, came with it)

I'm sitting here bored at work so I thought I'd get this thread started. If I need to provide versions or ini files I'll have to do that tonight.

I just got my BoomzBox last night and hooked it up quick to test it out.
The setup took a bit more than I'd hoped. Got a little frustrated but eventually got it working.
Now I've got two issues that I hope someone can help with. I've seen both mentioned in the forums but didn't see resolutions.

White noise or static or "sounds like data", as some have called it, after coming back from hibernation. This happens with RR/Winamp and the BoomzBox software.

Extreeeemely loud. Volume needs to be all the way down. The instructions detail how to adjust the level of the radio in Windows 7 or Vista but not in XP. I looked all over last night and I just can't find it. Anyone know where it is in XP?

Other than that I hope it will work well. It (and the rest of the system) really need to work every time. The wife hates computers and, while she's not driving the car much, when she does it better work and work easy. She's the reason I spent $180 on a radio when I was happy with the Shark.

    Thanks for your help.

    Nothing?

I installed the latest BB software, 1.3.1.4. No change in the resume behavior.

Had another look at setting the audio level and was unsuccessful. There doesn't seem to be any setting in the hardware devices.
Looking at every volume control for every device didn't do it either. Nothing adjusts the radio volume except the main volume control.

I'm using eLite Wings as a skin and last night, if the hdradio was enabled, RR would quit as soon as I heard the click from the BB. I didn't try it with CarWings, got too late.

Anyone have experience with this thing in XP?
    Thanks,
    davidk

When looking at the volume controls in XP...when you select USB audio codec, there are objects when you select playback but there are no devices when you select recording. The recording button is there as if there should be objects to select but nothing shows up.

The same white noise stuff is happening regardless of RR or BB software. If it's coming from the radio it's not being muted when switching to music in RR.

    Is this thing on?

    Man, you're impatient.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

No, not impatient...not happy that it's advertised as working with XP and it doesn't.
I'm not new to computers and this thing has tested my patience.

I'm just a little frustrated with this. It's yet another thing with this carputer that almost works. I'm under a bit of a deadline to get this working too. The wife doesn't want our 3 month old car taken apart for so long.

I made a vid of what's going on.

This happens with the radio enabled in RR or with the BB software. Tonight, with the radio enabled in RR, it would start and when the radio module clicked on RR would terminate. It eventually stayed running after about 5 tries.

I do appreciate the help I've received on this forum. Without it I'd not be as far as I am with my project.
My hope is that this module can be made to work with XP.
    Thanks,
    davidk

As for the volume, where does this get set? HDRadio---> HDRadioEventHWPoweredOn.Setting Volume=70
This is from a debug trace.
Is it the USB Audio level mentioned in the instructions? Would this setting be able to be changed? Would changing this accomplish the same thing?

    thx

    1st that isnt white noise
to fix it, you will need to send me the usb interface box

now... audio level in RideRunner is controlled by a setting
lower the level ... 65 is a good number to try

    in rr.ini

    HDVolume=65

right from the documentation that nobody reads, and is hard to find stuff in anyway

    hdvolume=0-90
Sets default HD radio volume. Default is 75, range is from 0 to 90.
    -Thanks
