firing up an old thread here...forgot to subscribe to this.
I think it might be more of a com port/xport issue. If I restart Xport, the GPS comes back online.
This happens very inconsistently, can't figure out what triggers it to make it repeatable.
My vehicle isn't garage parked, always has a clear view of the sky.

This happened to me too, I thought it was the positioning of the puck. It is currently under the center console, right beside the emergency brake. Is there any known fix for this other than rebooting?

With XPort, you can look at the bottom of the window. If it says "Port Doesn't Exist" then there's a hardware problem or the driver isn't working. Try the latest. If it says "No Data Stream" then the GPS itself isn't working but the USB interface is. If it says "NMEA Data" with 0SVs, then it most likely needs a better view of the sky.

    Resurrecting:

I have some similar issues with my BU-353 and I do park in an underground garage in multiple locations. The main issue I have with my unit is that it either takes a really long time to get the signal back after exiting the garage or it doesn't get it back at all until I hibernate with a clear view then resume. I have some other intermittent issues of losing signal for no apparent reason (clear sky, had fix just before, located under the bottom corner of windshield), but that doesn't bother me as much as the issue after leaving the garage(s).

I will try and pay more attention to what Xport says when this happens to see if I can find any clues.

i think im going to put a switch linline the usb cord for my gps puck. it was working great for months, but now sometimes after a few hibernates it will cut out, and not long after that i get a system blue screen with a "driver power state failure". in any caee, a system restart always gets it working perfectly again for a few hibernates.

ill post back if i figure out whats going on, it seems to me if i can just reset the usb connection when needed it should work better... i hope...

Ive had the same problem too, with the G945CLF2 board and BU-353..but it happens only once in a while and usually clears up within a few minutes.

It deteriorated to the point where the GPS just wouldn't work. I rebooted (not hibernate), no luck. kept trying to rescan w/ xport, it would find it, GPS shows up but then disappears after a few seconds. Tried different USB port, no luck. I started thinking it was finally dead.
Then I downloaded the latest Xport, it has since been revised since last I checked. Got it up and running and so far it works flawlessly. Knock on wood.

I've been having what I think might be a similar problem. I haven't changed anything lately (at least I don't recall changing anything) with my system, but the past few days the gps signal will just cut out and I haven't found anyway for it to come back except to reboot the computer. Typically I have my gps antenna going into a usb hub, and then use xport to split to two different com ports (for iguidance and rr). Now it will work for a random length of time, anything from only a few minutes to an hour or so, and then it cuts out so that the gps program behaves as though I have the wrong port set or the antenna unplugged. I haven't noticed anything in xport when this has happened in the past, I'll have to open it up and see if it displays anything as mentioned above. Also, I never hibernate, I always power the system off when I turn off the car. Is there a chance that the gps antenna is just starting to fail?

Probably xport. Don't try anything else until you have updated it.
