thanks curiosity for your hard work and help
i will see if it does it again... i have to prolific drivers in my system, one for bu353 and another for a usb to serial cable for my HD-radio... I have to narrow it down to see what is to blame...it is either the prolific driver or xport.. i will wait to see if i will do it again with the older prolific driver...if yes i will move on and connect my gps directly to the com port and see..
does NMEA filtrer close the port and reopen it 100%??
that might be usefull
ok it seems that the 2005 prolific driver did the trick..it has been 2 days now without a problem.. it is soon to say, bu i will keep u posted
ok just to let everybody know, changing the prolific drivers to 2005 solved all my problems...It has been 20 days now without a problem..Xport has been flawless..
Long term follow up:
GPSGate now has a free client. I've been using this instead of Xport and it has been working flawlessly.
- GPS always there, no dropouts.
- No lag whatsoever between my actual position and what the GPS software says.
- Resumes from hibernate perfectly.
- Way fewer BSOD (I suspected xport might have been causing some of these).
- Port sharing of the GPS for both the front end and my GPS software.
i'm glad that i found this thread, cause i already thougt about sellling my BU-353. My problem is nearly the same, i use the BU-353 with TomTom and Centrafuse. But after a while, everything from 2 to 60 minutes is possible, the device "breaks" and i have to replug it.
Can somebody post the 2005 Driver or give me some other possible solutions?
