That would work, but I don't think you'd be able to use the HU volume control. You could add the H701 controller and use it to select a different source on the H701 brain and then use the controllers volume knob.

Actually I don't know. I'm not sure how the HU's control the H700/1. Turbocad6 would know. He controls his through a DVD HU.

set the carpc as a source... it may be something like dvd2, then the optical goes from the carpc straight to the 701...

Well Pete, I'd get a controller from the H700, like mine and use the amber (red) setting. Pics of my controller are here:

Look at the 3rd pic. I think you could simply get some clear red film and glue a tiny piece to cover each little LED. That should make it nice and red looking and get rid of the orangish tint. That's pretty much it.

I wonder if a red film over the whitish display would look good or not. It's worth trying.

So i can connect the H701 to the HU and the CARPC? So when i wanna listen to the CarPC, on the HU i just flip to what? How would i switch sound from regualr HU to DVD2 on the h701?

Anyway, he could run the HU and the PC into the brain digitally, right? How would you switch the sources on the brain? Can it be done through the HU?

the first h700's had the dual illumination that had the orangy red... this is what you should try to get

if your going to try to get a perfect match to your red it's not impossible, but the led's are smd's & not doable unless your very electronic savy.... if it's that important I'm sure there are places who could do it for you... might be worth it...

I'm sure even the lcd display could be flooded with a few extra led's too & have it all light up red. just look for electronic repair places & talk to a few until you find someone with the right attitude towards your "project"

I really don't think unsoldering and soldering in all new LEDs is neccesary. Don't you think a clear red plastic film over the top would make them redder?
