I probably will. We may have to just swap the guts as your housing is painted, right?

I've looked all over locally for the TR7, but every place that has them wants $50-$70 for them which is rediculous. I'll probably order one online for 25 bucks including shipping.

I did just get in my Alpine XM tuner, the old style. I didn't realize it needed a special 2 into 1 antenna adaptor to work with the newer antennas. I can't wait to get that bad boy working.

I'm having one issue though. I picked up a AI-net cable locally, but it seems to cause a 58 second turn on delay. Very weird. Once it turns on, it works fine. I just tried the cable that came with the XM tuner and it fixed the problem so I know it's the cable. Anyone ever have that happen to them?

One other note about the AI-net cable. It obviously can have at least 2 different analog music signals going through it at the same time. I was thinking the 2 big connectors in the middle where for the audio, but with the XM tuner installed the analog XM music has to travel to the HU (I assume) and then back to the H700 simultainiously. Does anyone have a clue about this?

yeah, mine is painted black, the guts can be switched though.

tr-7's are cheap online, I used to always keep a few around, there good for SOOO many things besides the alpine bypass really, I use them for a lot of things really, there great as timers or flip flops or sequencers.

ai-net cables are expensive too & used ones can be a headache, most install them carefully, but when the time comes to guit the car they never get as much care & if there pulled too hard on removal they screw up... never had the issue your talking about though, usually they work or they don't.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for answering my questions earlier, but i have a few more if you don't mind. I just bought the h701/rux combo for 534 shipped , but i realized i don't really have anywhere to mount the controller. So i just plan on taking it out whenever I plan on tuning my system.

Say I took out my rux in order to tune my H701 which is in the trunk, how would i power the rux? Can it run off of the H701, or does it need its own individual power/negative wires?

    Thanks

The RUX only has one cable going from it to the brain. That's how it gets it's power.

Ah, great thats what I was hoping for.

On a sidenote, I hope this is the right place to ask, but could you recommend an external soundcard/dac thats sole purpose is to connect to the H701. Of course that would mean it has optical out. The reason I'm asking this in the H701 thread, and not the external soundcard thread, is because I'm not looking for a card that has a bunch of processing capabilities since the H701 will handle that. Instead, i'm looking for the cheapest card that won't bottleneck my sound quality before it reaches the processor.

    Thanks for all your help.

PS. If the answer is found somewhere else, I apologize, but I did try searching a bit.

The Chaintech AV-710 sounded real nice and is real cheap. With the right drivers it is very basic and reliable and will hibernate, too. It can do bit perfect as well.

    Ohh.
Does the laptop have an optional SPDIF output? Sometimes docking stations will have it integrated.

Other than that, the only ones I know of are the high end Sound Blasters like Red is running. I really can't help you much there. You may have to search for it as I'm sure it has to have been talked about before.

My laptop is a dell 600m. It doesn't have a spdif out, but the docking station i'm using does. Sorry for my ignorance, but what can that be used for?
