Rough tune on your EQ

Are you still using the 3 way x-over in the door? If the mid bass and the mid are crossing at 500, then you might be able to smooth them using the passive x-over.

one thing i concluded from my measurements (taken with digital spl and producing sine waves) is that it is incredible inaccurate for the higher frequencies. The measurements are totally of and if you start correcting it above lets say 5k it will sound very out of tune. I think this is due to the fact that its very hard for tweeters to reproduce a powerful sine wave!! i have no validation for this but its what i concluded from my measurements....correcting it above 5k with this method will make the highs sound extremely of!... below that however you should be fine.

I only have 2 pairs of coaxials powered off the head unit. Im using a clarion dxz785usb. This head unit has 2 3-band parametric equalizers, 1 for the front pair of speakers and 1 for the rear pair. I took my measurements from the drivers seat with time alignment, and fade/balance already set. I used the rat shack digital spl meter holding in my hand at head level with the mic facing toward the windshield. I took measurements 3 times to make sure I was getting consistant results.

One thing I did notice with this spl meter is that the direction of the microphone affects the reading tremendously. Especially with frequencies above 4-5 kHz.

I just found this thread. Ridiculously good thread. It's not that this info doesn't exist out there but they way it has been explained by a few users on this board makes it very easy to understand. Great job guys.
