I have a CABLES TO GO 40018 Coax- Optical Audio Converter, which looks very much like one of these Dayton DAC-CO Coaxial To Optical Converter, which I would like to power from my opus case. The case has a 12V switched outlet to power external devices. The power supply that came with the converter says it's 6V. However, I noted on previous threads (SPDIF -> Toslink (Epia -> H701), for example) that people are having success running them with 12V.
Could someone explain how to do this? Is it as simple as cutting off the transformer and splicing the 12V line to the power cable (it can't be that simple....)?
Any hints really apprecated.
