Did my Cassette adapter break my radio?

I have a Toyota Avalon 06 model I use my mp3 player IRiver player and plug it into a Sony Cassette adapter. The display on the dash board was not working right. For example,The temperature indicators would stop working,The radio couldn't be played. The dealership replaced the tape player and all is back to normal, however,I am worried that my cassette adapter caused the problem with a possible short.Should I feel comfortable using this adapter?

    I seriously doubt it.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I'd go as far as saying it's not possible... all the tape adaptor is doing is inputting the audio through the magnetic tape pick up head, that's it... the only thing it could possibly screw up is the tape mechanisim itself, which doesn't really even ever happen.
