Arrow Pioneer KEH-P4400 activate AUX input instructions for IPOD

I have been struggling with how to activate the AUX input on my Pioneer car cassette deck model keh-p4400 but recently figured it out and wanted to share this with the rest of the world struggling with the same issue.

Most similar models AUX input can be activated by using the "FUNCTION" or "AUDIO" buttons... however the p4400 does not have either.

I made a call to Pioneer Electronics and spoke with a customer service representative... he struggled to find a face plate for this model... confident it would be obvious to him how to activate the AUX input when he saw it... then grumbed a "Hmmm..." and spent the next several minutes searching for the owners manual.

He read from the manual, something like this... (..push the "SOURCE" button until the unit powers OFF... then switch the key on your vehicle OFF... then push the "DISP/EDIT" button and hold it down ....while this button is depressed, turn the vehicle key into the "POWER ON" mode (car not running but power to the radio activated). Wait a few seconds (while holding the "DISP/EDIT" button down) ..and then release it. Now push the "SOURCE" button... it should display three options (in this order) 1.) Radio Station 2.) M-CD 3.) AUX

The problem that I had was that when I installed the deck in my car, I hotwired it so that it had power ALL the time. This is great... but it meant that the only way I could activate the AUX was to push the "SOURCE" button until the unit powers OFF... then have a friend disconnect the battery... then I would push the "DISP/EDIT" button and hold it down.... while the button was depressed... my friend would reconnect the battery. I would wait a few more seconds (while holding the "DISP/EDIT" button down) ..and then release it. Then, pushing the "SOURCE" button... it would display the three options (in this order) 1.) Radio Station 2.) M-CD 3.) AUX

NOTE: If the AUX is on... and you repeat these steps again... it will turn the AUX OFF

The above step regarding the battery was REDICULOUS. So, I tried something that worked even BETTER!

HERE IS THE BEST WAY TO TURN ON THE AUX INPUT WHEN THE RADIO HAS POWER ALL THE TIME

1.) Push the "SOURCE" button until the unit powers OFF.
    2.) Disconnect the face plate.
3.) Press and hold the (DISP/EDIT) button while the face plate is removed.
4.) While holding the (DISP/EDIT) button down, carefully reinstall the face plate.
5.) Continue to hold the (DISP/EDIT) button down a few seconds... then release.
6.) Push the "SOURCE" button and you will see that the AUX is now ON (or OFF if it was ON before).
