Hey ok lets start, i have a jbl 1201.1 1200rms amp i also got a 4 gage wireing kit with it, i also have a pionner 3000watt sub can easy handle the amp.
any way i already had a 4 channel amp running in my car, so i went out to fit my new jbl and every thing was fitied i havent used the same ground as the other amp it has its own. i got it working for only 3 min's but every thing in my car the lights was really really dimed so what i done is put my head lights on and it went dimmer , then i went to the back of my car went to turn it up the gain on my jbl then it cut out never come bk on. i checked fuses every thing any way i was still trying it with the 4 gage, what i done is took my other amps 1000watt lead only a small wire , put that in to my jbl & my jbl comes on fine!!!!
why is this???i know now i ant getting my full power from my jbl and my pionner so how do i use the 4 gage lead??? do i need a heavey duty battery or power cap as i stress my lights was realllllly dim or what can any one answer my question thanks

Well, Id suggest that you get a thingamajig, wrap it in yellow duct tape, and use it to prop open the trunk. Then drive down to an audio shop, pay them to unhook EVERYTHING. Then pay them to hook it all back up. While you are waiting I'd enroll in a grammer course because H3ll
    I thought mine was bad.

If the amp wont come on with the volume turned very low, then it's probably a connection issue. You probably have a bad connection somewhere. If your inline fuse is not blown on the 4awg wire, but you aren't getting power, then either your connection to the battery is not good, or your ground is not good. Remove your connection from the battery, then scrape any corrosion or oxidation off the connector and battery post. Also, be sure your ground is good. Remove your connection to the chassis and be sure the area is scraped clean of paint and corrosion. Also, you should use the same grounding point on the chassis for both amps.

If this doesn't fix the problem, then there is a possibility that you alternator/battery doesn't supply enough current to power both amps. A capacitor will only help if the amp is cutting out only on the quick hard bass hits.
