the remote is an output not an input. all it does is put out 12 volts at about 0.5 amps to turn on amplifiers.![]()
I see a "remote" labeled wire on the 16 pin wiring harness of my DEH 12 pioneer.
My goal is to stuff this radio behind my 629 lilliput screen in the double din in order to have an easy/low power pc audio connection. (going to try FM transmission from sound card). ( I really hate running extra wires that an Amp would complicate.) I am not installing a carputer for high end music listening, just turn by turn directions, etc.
I was going to simply tune in the radio to the frequency and leave it on then put screen on. But in case volume control needed to be changed or fm station, I mind as well use the remote wire so I wouldn't have to remove lilliput just to get to the radio.
but what exactly does the remote wire from harness go to? the remotes are wireless, so I'm assuming you get a small IR reciever?
How do I find what remote and reciever hooks up to my DEH 12?
thanks for any advice. as you probably can tell, I don't know crap about car audio.

oh wow, i feel stupid.
why in the hell do they label the wire remote? remote power or or something like that at the very least.
dont feel stupid you should feel stupid if you actually hooked it up:P but its short for remote turn on
some pioneers come with a wired remote that you can plug into the HU. I forgot which models but, they do make them. I remember seeing them when I install the PAC adaptors for the steering wheel controls.
OH also if you have steering wheel controls, you can install a PAC adaptor and control your volume from there.
