hmmm.. it could be, most people stereo type the dyn's as warm while the focals being bright but it's your ears. i heard a dyn component set (running active in a honda accord) and it sounded beautiful to my ears exactly what i would have wanted.

It could be that in car audio you often times have a tweeter mounted off axis and that may tame some of the brights...

    red?? durwood?? help!

One of the things I've found is that those who complain about the Focals being bright are those people who listen to them in only one instance and most of the time they're on-axis.

The Focals need to be off axis. Most people apply conventional thought processes that work for other brands to the Focals only to find that they don't sound right.

The Focals need to be completely off axis to reduce some of the harshness, from there, it's all about tuning, as with any system.

also, I'm not sure where the comment about kicks came from?

I'm running a set of 5" Be subs in my kicks...

it completely depends on your set-up as a whole.

We're running the Be tweeters, 3" mids, and 5" subs....if we had picked a component set this probably wouldn't have worked as well.

Thing is, it's not going to help me if I don't know your car, your amps, power, how much air space you have to work with, how you're going to build that enclosure, what frequencies they will be playing, etc.

It's truely a project where you have to take everything into account, at this level it's not just pulling a box of the shelf and running with it. If you're wanting to run subs in the front, you need to look at the frequencies your components are going to play and determine if the subs will fit in there. Also need to consider if you have the hardware to properly tune such a set-up.

The only things I want to point out is your gonna need a very powerfull frontstage to keep up whit 2000w of bass, especially whit a monster like this.

Depending on what you want to achieve, the xover frequancy you want on the sub and your volume target, you'll need more/less bass or mid-bass from the components wooffers... This could have a big impact on your choice.
