yup :-) but good equipment is good equipment. you can't argue that the old ss reference amps weren't great performers.

Phaze is no longer around. Butler audio designed tube hybrid amps for phaze audio a few years later PPI bought out phaze and use the bk's design for a while then they sold out and made a cheaper version with hard to come by parts.

Butler Audio is still around and he's still making the tubedrivers but an updated version from the one i have. He calls them tubedriver blue. The nice thing about the old tubedrivers are that they utilize a balanced input ensuring a clean signal all the way from the pc to amp.

this was after ss stopped making amps in america, i believe they are made in china now with lesser quality components

that's a great one. and will give you plenty of headroom

another amp that i owned and would also recommend w/o hesitation is the xtant amps from a few years back (am i showing my age now?)
I had an 603x (you can see it in my install thread from my link) it sounded amazing! i really love that amp. I was perfectly happy with it (until i heard the tubedrivers )

i say f/g if you can get your hands on them. They are supposed to be friendlier to tune for the first time diy'er. don't worry about the future because; with the diy community, you can always sell them down the road when you want to experiment with another setup. IF you were going to go to a 3 way in the future you could always try to squeeze in an 8" driver since you don't have to ask it to play as high up.

Is 50x4 going to be enough for all of this or do I not need at least 75x4 and up?

depends on the efficiency of the speaker. i'd probably go with 75+ for the woofers where as you can get away with less on the tweeters (if that is an option for you).

look for an efficient amp (80%+) and wooferst that are 87bd+ efficent and you should be fine. An even better option would be to get a high-output amp where you can turn the gains all the way down and still get the needed output. That way you'll be able to eliminate the noisefoor as much as possible as that again will improve sound-quality. And if you want to go for it all the way: Get a line-driver, so you can boost the output voltage on your source, and again, turn the gains down to a miimum or even 0.....
Xenia & Isabelle, totally in love!
