I just read the manual for the M-Audio Transit. It says it supports full-duplex, but does not get specific enough to say whether the digital input can be played through the analog output. I might have to buy this thing and test it out.
Cool, I'll check them out. Thanks.

Durwood, just thought I'd let you know about the WaveIdea UASC card so you can update your list. I sent an email to their support about it's availability. They responded very promptly and politely and told me that it's fully discontinued and there is very little chance of me being able to find one anywhere (unless one pops up on Ebay).
Just thought you might want to update your list to this effect.
Nola
Ok cool good to know. Removing it now...
I thought about the transit but for some reason I didn't think it had optical in so I didn;t bother to look. hopefully that one works for you.
System always under construction
Thanks. I'll be ordering it today. I'll let you know how it works and if there's anything in its description on your list that you can add/remove.
Edirdol by Roland has multiple sound cards that can do full duplex via usb and firewire:

As mentioned in my post #7, I already tried an Edirol card and it didn't work. There are two other Edirol cards that are bus-powered but it appears that their routing scheme for audio is the same as the one I already tried. And firewire is not an option for me unfortunately. Thanks for the tip though!
