Thread: Preamplifier\linedriver recommendations please

I have an "Auxillary" input into the head unit of my car which was sold and installed by the dealer. I use for a Creative Vision M 30G MP3 player. With the output of the MP3 player turned to max and the HU input level set to max the system output is still low. Quite a bit less than the sound level when I switch FM or CD as the source. I showed this to the Dealer and the response was, it works at all, be happy. It's not our fault that the output level of your MP3 player is too low. (The mfg later added a preamplification to the HU.)

I would like to add a 12VDC powered preamplifier\linedriver to boost the signal.

I would appreciate recommendations of preamplifiers\linedriver you have used or heard installed in a car that worked well. Looking for units with good gain (15 to 30dB), low noise (S/N > 90dB), and does not seem prone to interference problems.

Something under $30 would be cool too.
