Need help to connect a SVEN4 to HK AMP

    HI,

I've a Bmw E46 330D with HK kit, and I'm trying to connect a Sven4 to the speakers and to the pc.

    Here's a picture of the connections :

I've connected the INPUT rca of the Sven4 directly to the onboard pc sound card but I've no sound on the speakers.

What did I do wrong ?

    Thanks for the help

I dont believe that device works in that direction. I'm not too familar with that particular device but it looks to be a 4 ch line out converter. It takes the factory speaker level lines as an input and makes the signal adjustible so that the low RCA level output can be used to be input to a factory or aftermarket amplifier. You cannot use that device to send the low level signal from the computer to the speakers, and it will require an amplifier.

Is it necessary to have a preamp line driver to make the sven4 working ?

BTW, What year is your BMW? Some late model BMW actually use a type of digital output from the factory radio and accepts a the same digital input into the factory amplifier. I've seen it use only a maximum of only 4 wires, but in that case it will not take any form of analog signal that you feed to it. That could be true and a pain cuz you're going to have to get new amps to run your interiors, or it could be as easy as connecting the factory amp remote turn on if you havent already.

Furthermore, that device is not usefull in either case. While you are attempting to connect a pc to your car, the pc does not output speaker level audio lines, as I stated before. The computer emits about >1.5VAC at best. Where as a normal radio (with a non-amplified system), emits about >12VAC. If by chance with your car you do not have a audio signal that is digitally transmitted between the factory deck and the factory amp, and the factory amp can accept an analog signal, then you can connect the ouput directly to the factory lines and make sure your remote line is activated.
Lots of stuff going on. I hope I didnt lose you.

Sorry I don't fully follow. Is there no way to easily connect a factory amplifier to the PC's speakers?

Should an external 5.1 surround be used instead (Audigy NX or SBLive!) ?

I'm in the same boat as serwol. I'm hoping to keep existing speakers & factory amplifier, just replacing head unit with touch-screen.

    Help?
