Does the amp get too hot and shut off because of thermal overload protection? I had one do that once because it wasn't powerful enough to run what I was trying to run.
If you have the components wired in such a way that's drawing too much current (below the stable ohm rating) or something the amp will get really hot and shut off.
Then again you did say you disconnected all the speakers but one, so that might not be the problem.
If you have a multimeter handy you could check and see if you still have proper voltages when it does shutoff.
