ok I think I got it, I went and talked to a friend of a friend and he set it up where its only using 1 channel and he turned the bass boost down just a little bit. He did tell me that the amp isn't the highest quality, which I knew, and that was part of the problem. I listened to it all the way home and it didn't cut out once. so I'm hoping that the problem is finally fixed.
    Thanks for everyones help!

Yes, he probably rewired the two subs in a series/parallel configuration, wiring each sub in series to 8-ohms and then paralleled down to 4-ohms on the single bridged channel. Now, one thing to be aware of is that you are now only delivering about 250watts RMS to each sub (according to PA, the require 500rms). The amp's manual says 1000 watts or something, but you should look at the 120x4 spec for actual power. But it sounds like your installer friend knew what he was doing. Your amps not that bad, there are a LOT worse out there. The good news is, now you can power your front speakers off the amp as well! If you haven't upgraded yet, let me know. I'll swing you a deal.
