Becker 7990 Grand Prix on a W210 Mercedes....

    Cheers people,

I am very interested to get the Becker 7990 http://www.mybecker.com/beckerCms/ww...003&navSeq=224
for my Mercedes W210; However I have some questions:

    Will this fit my car?

If it will; will it fit as plug and play or not?

    Thanks.

I would suggest one of the MB specific forums:

    http://www.mercedesforum.com/

    There are a few others.

You can download the manual at the same site to view the DINS connectors:

It looks af if it has a universal ISO connector so with the right wiring harness it fit's any car. Only the connections at the top are strange. I guess Becker has put a connector with the radio in the box to convert those connections into more universal one's. Maybe you can contact Becker for more specific details of the radio.

For over years now Becker is the suplier for OEM Mercedes headunits, so if there is one car this radio should fit in it's a Mercedes. But since every car manufactorer uses his own specific connector and these on the radio are universal ISO connectors, chances that it will fit plug and play with no additional wiring harness are slim.

Just for the update of the subject and for sake of others seeking the same question to be answered; I got a confirmation from Becker that the unit will work on my car without any cable modifications as it turned out that my factory Mercedes player is a Becker BE2210, here is the response:

"Pinning of socket A (supply voltages and special functions) is pin compatible. Socket B (loudspeaker) is compatible as well.
But only socket C is not compatible neither in connector dimension nor in function.
Consequently the BE 7990 can be installed by using the existing and present connector of the car (A+B)

    with kind regards
