    Battery

Hi, can someone help me. I need a new battery as I suspect my system killed my (standard) one. I want a deep cycle one so it withstands my set up but I can't afford too much.

    I am running:
    CarPC (see sig for details)
    1600w Mono amp
    800w Stereo amp
    A few cold cathode lights
    Undercar LED kit

Not that much really so would this do the job?

The link is broken for me.

Just get a YellowTop or RedTop Optima.

Which depends on if you want longer duration (Yellow) or higher burst of power (Red).

usually come with 1 to 3 years of warranty. They wont die.

    Sorry, try this:
    LINK

The Optima ones are way too expensive though, especially the yellow top which is the deep cycle one I need.

58GBP = $120USD probably higher now right? That is about the same cost as an optima. And just remember you get what you pay for. The life of the battery is a direct relationship to the build quality and price.

The spirals/coils of Optimas are proven better quality than any rectangular plate battery.

If you must go cheap look for the ones with the round on the sides.

They may be cheaper in the US. I haven't seen a yellow top for less than £130

Ok well checked ebay.co.uk and sure enough it is a direct $-GBP like computer parts... That is messed up. Although I dont think you can ship a battery internationally...

Well I still say go for gold. There is a thread on here about equivalents to optimas, that are less well known. You may have lower chance of finding them in the UK but if you do they will probably be less.

Ill try to find the thread...

Well I cant find the thread I was thinking of but found this one: deep cycle battery recommended?

it has reference to a UK site. I havent visited it though, but might be worth a shot.

THe thread I am thinking of people starting arguing about the best deep cycle battery and like 3 or 4 other lesser known brands came up...

Great, thanks for that. It sounds like the yellow top is not ideal as a starter battery though and i'm no where near affording a two-battery setup!

Do you think the one I linked to origanally would do a satisfactory job? It sounds like it can handle deep cycling AND cranking and, unfortunately, I am not in a position to go for 'the best'

Well yellowtop is a fine cranking battery for anything less than a monster truck. For cranking Redtop is better.

As for hte one you linked, it will work (or else they wouldnt sell it).
