Are you sure that it's not your cell phone causing interference?

    To the OP-

Have you tired re-installing your drivers? What's the CPU useage like? There could be an IRQ conflict too.

Another thing you could try is to bring your hardware acceleration down a notch on your video card settings.

the extigy is externally powered.. you shouldnt have bandwidth issues with it. I just bought an external creative live sound card and it sounds pretty sweet. Its on a hub (internal hub) and has no noise issues what so ever with my 1.3ghz processor.

No, not sure of that. A little difficult to track down however since it doesn't happen very often. So I have to turn off my cell phone everytime I use the car. Not very convienent...

It's not a "diddirrydiddirrydid" sound if that's what you mean. It just a smal "tack" as if something has hit the windshield.

My thoughts excactly when I bought it. It's pretty old, so not a lot of system requirements, USB 1.1, so no bandwith issues, and externaly powered, so not draining my 5V rail.

But I'm pretty happy with it. It sounds good and the "tack" sound only happens very little so I don't really bother about it. Just posted this to let people know there were others with problems on this subject.

did you try taking the WAVE volume and try bringing it down a notch, audio may be clipping to high. I have seen this happen before and lower the WAVE line got rid of it.

    uninstall norton

The reason for the first post I made the comment about it possibly being the bios firmware on the motherboard. This was because I had this issue before.

However after you posted the information about uninstalling winamp, I wonder if its because winamp was using a directsound output.. If windows media player is playing music fine.. it could be that windows media is playing out using a different audio driver than winamp was.

What version of windows are you running? They did a 100% change in windows vista to the sound and audio engine, this could possibly be one of the reasons if running vista.

    hope this helps m8

it means you have the EQ to high and the volume is clipping to high
