Hi, I have been reading these forums for a while and have finally had the time to start my carpc project. At the moment I still have my normal Car stereo head unit hooked up and I haven't even started on connecting up the laptop audio yet.

So far I have installed a Lilliput touch screen which seems to cause a faint alternator whine when the car is on, enough to be annoying.

Now, tonight I tried connecting up the laptop to see how well it works in the car. I connected the laptop to the car's power (DC12 to DC20) and then the lilliput's vga and usb cable to the laptop. As soon as I turn on the laptop I get loud noise through the speakers that fluctuates to the laptop hardware(like if the hard drive is accessed I hear it through the car speakers). This is all with the car turned off. Also does it with the car on. How could this be without any of the computer's audio even hooked up yet?

From reading other similar threads on here it seems I have a grounding problem but I have no idea how to fix it.

This has turned out to be harder than I originally thought. Does my car have really dirty power? My lilliput screen also turns off randomly, more so when the car is not running. But this I'll worry about once I fix this audio noise problem.

Thanks for any help.
