What kinda price range we talking here. Cuz i would highly recomend audobahn, but they cost alittle more. And based on the kinda music you listen to 10" subs would be way better than 12", 12s will give you to much thump while the 10s will give you much cleaner sound. and avoid sony xplods, while the price my be cheap they are not worth
it. like my dad always says 'you get what you pay for'.

You want a sub that is efficient in the 35-45 Hz region and that has smooth transient response (group delay) in that region. Transient response is how fast a sub will respond to the program material (music). Transient response is not effected directly by the size of the woofer (that is a myth). It is however effected primarily by the by the resonance magnitude and frequency (EBP) of the woofer used and secondary the design of the enclosure. The skinny of the situation is that for the type of music that you like and the budget restrictions that you have your best option will be a sub along the lines of MTX, or Zapco Iforce, type R or Focal A1 along with a properly designed ported enclosure. I must warn you though in order to achieve the desired results you will have to do a little research and find a shop that can test your sub (do not rely on the manufacturer specs!) and then design an enclosure for you that is based on those obtained parameters. Testing your sub and designing your enclosure should be around $100. That might seem pricy but the results will (if done correctly) more than offset the price of a much more expensive sub. I have been testing subs and designing enclosures for more than 15 years and I can honestly say that a $80 sub in the right enclosure can easily out perform a $1,000 sub in the wrong enclosure every time. If you encounter any one or any shop that wants to rely on the manufacturer specifications for designing an enclosure be ware that you are dealing with ignorance!
