4ch AMP powering 6 speakers?

Hi, I have a Holden Monaro CV8 which from factory has 6 speakers, 2 in front 2 in the middle behind the driver and pass. seat and 2 in the back. I was wondering if its possible using a 4ch amp run all the speakers?

Somebody told me that I can run the front and middle speakers in parrallel and the rear speakers off the remaining 2ch. My amp is a 4ch sony explode.

What confuses me is if I do this wouldnt the front and middle speakers be running at 2ohms? although they are 4ohm speakers i believe? What affects will this have on this setup or is it fine to do so?

at the moment I have the middle speakers disconnected and also that I am getting slight alternator whine and the LCD has flicker but only when the car is on. I have grounded the computer case which has slightly improved the LCD but still get alternator whine. I have tried 3 different places to ground to in the trunk but recieve the same problem with all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the speakers will be fine if u run the front 4 on the 2 channels and the rear 2 on the other channels. and it will be better for the front speakers because running more speakers off the 2 channels will make it so each individual speaker wont have as much power going to it. and did u ground the computer case the same place u grounded ur amp?

ok great. Yes I have grounded it at the same place, but im comming to the conclusion that it must be a bad ground..

You could run at a 2 or an 8 ohm load in and still be able to retain right and left balance.
The only downside to this is your rears (deck speakers will be a little muddy in the midrange and upper frequancys as I believe they are the factory subwoofer solution in these autos (like the american GTO). The speakers in the side panels are your rear speakers.

The config you questioned would work and you might be happy with the results, my advice would be to run the front and rear speakers off your current amp and save up for a second amp to run the speakers in the rear deck.

your quite spot on with that. I hooked the speakers up running the front and middle speakers sharing 2 of the front channels and the back on rear channels and it does sound a bit muddy as you described.

so what I was thinking was buying a 2ch amp and powering the rear speakers. That way I would need 3 pairs of rca cable. 1 for front 1 for mid (rear) and 1 for the rear (as subs) And I would set the speaker outputs in windows to follow what the rca's are as in front mid and sub as the sound card is a 6ch anyways.

Does that sound right? hope you understood my explanation......
