double din headunit with vga input

    Hi,

Looking for a double.din sized headunit, something like the Pioneer AVIC D3 with amp and gps but also vga-input so that I can use it as a pc monitor but I need it to be vga since s-video quality is not good enough...
Is there such a unit available that fits a double-din frame?

I do not want to use a car-pc monitor like the lilliput or simular because I need the headunit to support gps, radio without using the pc.
I plan to use the pc to monitor my car using custom applications so that is the reason for requiring vga-quality...

    Hmm,

It is sad really but the closest thing would be to combine a 1-din headunit which uses an external monitor to display navigation output etc and I could use my 1-din flipout vga screen to act as both pc-montor and hu-nav monitor...

    Thanks for the reply!

I dont see why you want a headunit to do all that stuff. A PC can do it better and faster. Then you can just get a regular screen, and run your stuff through it.

I guarentee that no matter how quirky your application a 1 PC setup with 1 monitor and no HU will work, and in my opinion be best.

    Thanks again guys!

To update the story just a bit, I have been on the forum for quite a while and I have ad the carpc up and running fine with navigation and playing mp3s but it is another story trying to get the pc to handle bluetooth devices for handsfree phonecalls like an oem unit can.

I have managed to get the pc to work partially but the software that is available today: phoneco and freephone does not work good enogh with my MS Phone Qteq S100.

The oem systems I have tried works much better and the pairing is quick with the Qtec phone so I still want to use the pc for some things but not others like handsfree...

    Hey, look at this: http://digitalww.com/store/proddetail.asp?prod=DWW6500
It's the same model and has been sold by DigitalWW for nearly a year.

Search for DWW-6500 on these forums and find peoples' opinions.
